Mission Statement

The California Jazz Foundation is a nonprofit charitable organization formed to provide assistance to musicians and others in need who have made substantial contributions to America’s only indigenous art form – JAZZ.

Statement of Purpose

CJF provides services and support to jazz musicians and others who have made substantial contributions to the art form.

The California Jazz Foundation:

  • Established and maintains a network of medical professionals who are available to provide services on a pro bono and/or sliding scale basis;

  • Provides emergency financial assistance;

  • Helps to educate recipients and raise their awareness of the importance of preventive care;

  • Acts as a clearinghouse to connect those in need with the appropriate service agencies;

  • Assists in preparing appropriate governmental applications for services and with filing contracts and coordinating various benefits;

  • Helps to educate musicians as to their professional rights and benefits from trade unions and guilds.

The Foundation accepts donations, grants, and produces at least one annual fundraising event. We are a member organization and are proud to have many and varied volunteers who assist the Foundation in fulfilling its mandate.
