Mission Statement
The California Jazz Foundation is a nonprofit, charitable
organization formed to provide assistance to musicians and to others in need who
have made substantial contributions to America's only indigenous art form - JAZZ.
The people we have helped say it best:
"Two thumbs up for the California Jazz Foundation! You
are angels that lifted me on your wings when I
needed help the most. You really care. Thanks again, and God bless the work you do."
"I am so very grateful there are programs of support in times
of crisis, like the California Jazz Foundation. We always offer our art form freely
and with great joy. To be uplifted in our time of need is a true blessing. Thank you
for being there for us!"
“Thank you so
much for the generous contribution you gave to me. I appreciate your help --- it
really saved my life. Best regards and a million thanks.”
"I am
sincerely and deeply grateful to the California Jazz Foundation for your efforts to
ensure the longevity of jazz as an American art form by providing invaluable
resources and services to the artists of that community.”"The Jazz
Foundation of America referred me to the California Jazz Foundation. CJF made a
payment to my dentist that allowed me to continue working. I don’t know what I would
have done without the assistance of these two organizations.”
“My life was
out of balance and I was about to lose my home. Miraculously, The California Jazz
Foundation was there for me in my time of need.”
"Sometimes in
life, you don't always know the changes --- but CJF was there to see me through!"
“Thank you for
your heartfelt concern for my well-being. There was a time not long ago, when I felt
no one cared anymore. Today, I feel a sense of renewed confidence in this changing
world. There are people who care! Thank you Edythe, Sue, Jeffrey, Brian and Dr.
Goldrich for caring about jazz and the musicians that strive to keep the music
alive. Helping me smile, means so much as a vocalist. I am forever grateful that
your organization was there for me. I'll be there for you."

“After I was
assaulted while working at a local venue, CJF provided me with medical referrals so
I could be tested. They also paid for my hearing aid. I am eternally grateful to The
California Jazz Foundation.”
“The California Jazz Foundation is so vital. I had been off the scene for awhile,
due to personal reasons. But mainly, I had been taking care of my mother, who was my
first music teacher. During the last five years, my work and performance
opportunities were limited. I was financially exhausted. The foundation made it
possible for me to stabilize my life at a time when I was in need.
Thank you,
CJF, my career is back!"
