The California Jazz Foundation is honored to congratulate our Vice President Michael Dolphin upon receiving the Jazz Living Legend Award.
For over thirty years, Michael has preached, taught and enlightened anyone who would listen to the rich history of Los Angeles's Central Avenue and its amazing gift to jazz. He consistently touts the legendary contributions of Gerald Wilson, Red Callender, Buddy Collette, Dexter Gordon, Vi Redd, Eric Dolphy, Jesse Belvin, Clora Bryant, Charles Mingus, Ernie Andrews and so many more that grew up from their teenage roots right here in Los Angeles.
Michael continually advocates for the recognition that Central Avenue deserves and honors legacies created by that South-East section of Los Angeles.
